WHEN FIRST STARTING
When first starting, it could perhaps sometimes appear that the chanting is rather a mechanical or mental process. Like with anything we start new, we have to get used to it. But with regular practice, you will find that you will be able to sink into deeper layers of your being, and it will lead you to more self-awareness, centeredness, and provide you with a beautiful tool to navigate challenging times. While practicing, emotions and thoughts will come to the surface, and although it might be confusing to why the mind sometimes stays so very active, this is all part of the process of self-awareness and learning to bring yourself back to your center, to your breathing, and to seeing if you can become more and more aware of your energy field and the vibrational effect of your mantra meditation. |
BUSY MINDS It can be hard to be confronted with oneself when we realize how restless our minds actually can be. It is important to meet this busy mind from a place of awareness, to be present and observe the thoughts that are arising, and to let go any attachment or emotional reaction to these thoughts. When starting your mantra meditation, focus on your breathing, and on the mantra you are chanting. The very moment you are practicing bringing your mind back from a place of thinking to a place of feeling and breathing, every time it wonders, IS the very practice that will strengthen your ability to focus, and will cultivate your self-awareness and sensitivity to your energy and emotional body. It is a valuable tool to bring awareness to what is alive within us, so that we can start seeing certain patterns that we can then practice to unravel and let go off. So rather than judging yourself for being where you are, bring in patience, self-compassion and embrace the knowledge that any practice takes time to deepen and cultivate step by step. Mantras can help us to navigate this movement from outer focus to inner focus in a very gentle and supportive way. Over time you will experience how a mantra meditation can profoundly change your state of being, and bring you back to presence, fill your energy body with joy and peace, remind you of your true essence and help you to recognize Spirit in all that you are and in all of Life. |
FEELING There are many meditation techniques and by all means I am not an expert, but what helps me tremendously to sink deep into my mantra meditation practice, is to keep bringing my awareness back into ‘feeling’. Thoughts arise, bring your awareness to your body. Thoughts arise again, bring your awareness to your heart-center. Thoughts arise again, bring your awareness to feeling your energy field, or to the words you are chanting. Moving from thinking to ‘feeling’, or ‘being’, is a beautiful tool to help you to become present in every moment. And the mantras are of incredible support to support us in this process.
